Together with her grandmother Selma and a series of quirky neighbours and friends, Luise grows up in seclusion in a remote village in the Westerwald. After the early accidental death of her best childhood friend, she has cut herself off from the world and lets life pass her by. When the Buddhist monk Frederick appears before her out of nowhere, she realises that she can no longer hide from the power of love.
