Even as a young child, feisty and maverick Lara is her deaf parent's mouthpiece. In admiration of her aunt, who is a clarinetist, Lara discovers her love for music. Encouraged by music teachers and her aunt, she prepares for the entrance exam at conservatory of music in Berlin. Family conflicts emerge as Lara's parents lose the close contact to her daughter. After the deadly accident of her mother, her tense relationship to her father worsens. Lara goes her own way.
