Young German librarian Jan travels to Italy in order to marry his German-Italian bride Sara. Jan`s first encounter with her lively south Italian family turns into a nightmare. Saras father Antonio gives Jan a hard time with his odd way of life although he should know better. Antonio himself is a stranger in a foreign country since he immigrated to Germany in the sixties.
